Shooting Schedule
The shooting schedule Film Logic builds from a stripboard, handed to you empty. Add shoot days, drop scenes under them in shooting order, and mark company moves and meal breaks where they fall. What is a shooting schedule?
A shooting schedule is the plan for what gets filmed on which day. Scenes are pulled out of script order and regrouped so everything at one location is shot together, everything needing a particular actor falls in the same block, and the day's work fits the hours available. It is what the budget is costed against and what every call sheet is cut from.
Why is a film shot out of order?
Because moving a crew is the most expensive thing a production does. If a location appears in scenes 4, 30 and 62, all three are shot the same day rather than returning three times. The same logic applies to actors, night shoots and anything hired by the day, which is why a schedule bears no resemblance to the order the audience sees.
What is a company move?
A company move is the whole unit relocating from one location to another during a shoot day. It is dead time that still has to be paid for, usually somewhere between one and three hours once trucks, cast and crew are counted. Scheduling more than one in a day is normally a sign the day is in trouble, which is why they are marked on the schedule as their own rows.
Use + Add Banner for moves, meal breaks and turnarounds, so the day's timings account for the hours nobody is filming.
How many pages can you shoot in a day?
It depends entirely on the production. A feature with a full crew often manages two to three pages a day, television moves faster at five to eight, and a small documentary-style crew can go further still. Dialogue in one room is quick; a stunt, a crowd or anything involving children, animals or water is not. Page counts are the unit, but they are an estimate rather than a promise.
Is this shooting schedule template free, and is my data private?

Or schedule it on a real stripboard
Film Logic turns the breakdown into a stripboard you drag into shape, and the schedule follows. Day totals, page counts and company moves recalculate as you move strips, conflicts get flagged before they cost you a day, and every call sheet comes off the schedule already filled in.
