Why it exists

Film Logic was founded by Rikhiil V Bahadur, a director with 15 years on set for studios and streamers. It started from an ordinary irritation: the script, the schedule, the reports and the call sheet were four separate documents maintained by four different people, and by the second week of any shoot at least one of them was wrong.

So the design principle is narrow. Keep the production in one place, and make sure the people preparing it and the people shooting it are looking at the same plan, with roles that match what they are actually responsible for.

What is in it

Screenplay import and script breakdown. Stripboard scheduling, availability and production reports. Call sheets with tracked distribution. Plus the AD dashboard, Crew Live for the crew's phones, production chat, and an Asset Library for departments.

The free side

The Film Logic blog covers filmmaking from development through production, and the production templates work in a browser without an account. Both are free and stay free. Teaching someone how a Day Out of Days works is worth doing even when they go on to fill it in by hand.
