A Gorilla Scheduling alternative
with no per-seat pricing.

One price for the production, however many people work on it, with every feature in every plan and the whole thing editable from a phone. US$19.99 a month, free for thirty days.

Check which Gorilla you are pricing

This is where most comparisons of Gorilla go wrong. Gorilla is two products. Gorilla Scheduling Online runs in a browser and is sold in tiers. Gorilla Scheduling Desktop is a Mac and Windows application sold as a flat subscription. They are priced differently and they include different things, including how you get call sheets.

Film Logic is browser-first, so Gorilla Scheduling Online is the fair comparison and most of this page is about that. The desktop product is covered further down, because for some productions it is still the right answer.

What you get

The whole run, from screenplay to shoot day

Import the .fdx or PDF and the scenes, headings and characters come across. Tag the breakdown scene by scene. Drag strips into days, with banners for meals and company moves, page counts and day totals moving as you go, and cast and location availability visible while you schedule rather than in a document you check afterwards. A conflicts report flags what a move disturbed.

Thirteen reports come off that same board: the one-liner, the Hollywood one-liner, the shooting schedule, Day Out of Days, daily category totals, a shooting calendar, breakdown and element reports, cast, set and location directories, and the conflicts report.

Then the shoot day. Build tomorrow's call sheet from the day already on the board, send it for approval, distribute it as a PDF and track each recipient through delivered, opened and confirmed. On the day the AD dashboard runs the floor, and Crew Live gives the crew the current scene on a phone with no login and no app, however many of them there are.

How many people can be in the production

Gorilla Scheduling Online tiers by collaborator. Solo, at $19 a month, states "no team collaboration". Production, at $49, adds 2 collaborators for 3 logged-in users. Studio, at $99, gives you 14 collaborators for 15 users.

Film Logic is US$19.99 a month with unlimited collaborators, each holding a role that controls what they can edit. If you work alone, Gorilla Online Solo is a dollar cheaper for the same three active projects. The gap opens at the second and third person.

The production, on a phone

Not a viewer. The script, the breakdown, the board, availability, the reports, the call sheets and the AD dashboard all run on a phone and are all editable, against the same project. Script Supervisor is the one module that stays on desktop.

That means a scene can move from the back of a van and the revised call sheet can go out before anyone has found a desk.

The other half of per-seat pricing: what the tier withholds

Seats are the visible part. The less visible part is that on a tiered product the cheap tier is also where features are held back, and it is worth knowing which ones before you test on it.

On Gorilla Scheduling Online, call sheets exist on the free tier, so the reports are genuinely there. What their own pricing page lists as arriving only at Solo and above is the Design Template that controls the layout of every report, Excel export, and the removal of "Created with Gorilla Scheduling Online" branding from exports. A call sheet you send to a client or a cast member with another company's name printed on it is a different document from one without.

Film Logic does not tier features. The call sheet is the same on every plan and during the trial: built from the shooting day, sent for approval, exported as a PDF with no Film Logic branding on it, distributed by tracked email and confirmed per recipient. There is no version of it that is missing something because of what you pay.

Try Film Logic if

  • More than one person needs to edit the production, and you would rather not move up a tier to allow it.
  • You want every feature on the plan you can afford, rather than the ones the tier includes.
  • The shoot day matters as much as prep: tracked call sheet distribution, an AD dashboard and a crew view.
  • Someone needs to change the schedule from a location rather than from a desk.
  • You want forty crew to see the day without forty accounts existing.
  • You are shooting episodic and want per-episode scene pools inside one production.

Choose Gorilla if

  • You want budgeting from the same vendor. We have none.
  • You want AI to do the first pass of the breakdown.
  • You work alone, where Solo is a dollar cheaper.
  • You need to work offline, which their desktop product can and we cannot.
  • You are already in Gorilla and want to load an existing bundle.

The desktop product, which is a different decision

Gorilla Scheduling Desktop is a Mac and Windows application at $24.99 a month, $64.99 a quarter or $199 a year. Gorilla Budgeting Desktop is the same again, and the Combo Pack covering both is $39.99 a month or $369 a year. Premium tiers, which add Breakdown Assistant AI, run $39.99 a month or $269 a year for scheduling, and $49.99 or $449 for the combo. Film schools get academic licensing at $109 per licence per year, or $209 for the combo, with verification.

Being installed, it works with no connection, which a browser product cannot. Call sheets also work differently there: their pricing page states that Koala Call Sheets "remains available separately for the Gorilla Desktop workflow", where Gorilla Scheduling Online lists call sheets in its own reports suite.

Run it yourself

One script, one change, one hour

Both products have a free way in, so do not take either vendor's word for it. Do the same five steps in each and time yourself.

  1. Bring in a short script with two locations and three characters.
  2. Break down one scene with a prop, a costume note and an exterior.
  3. Build two shooting days and produce a cast DOOD.
  4. Move one scene to the other day, then look at availability, day totals and every report.
  5. Produce the revised call sheet and share it with one other person who has to be able to change something.

Step five is the one that separates them, because that is where the seat question stops being theoretical. Gorilla's Free tier has no collaborators, so testing it on their side means a paid tier.

Before you start: your screenplay imports, your breakdown does not, and that includes Gorilla's own bundle format, which their Online product can read and we cannot. On a feature, allow an afternoon to redo the breakdown, and test on a finished production rather than a live one.

Gorilla Scheduling Online tiers, limits and prices were read from their own pricing page on 16 September 2026. Gorilla Desktop prices, the academic licensing and the Koala Call Sheets note came from Jungle Software's plans and pricing page on the same date. Older pricing pages are still reachable elsewhere on their site with different figures; the two linked here are the ones their current navigation points to.
